Local Snooker Fans’ Cue To Raise Money for The Paul Hunter Foundation - 28th November 2007
Local snooker fans could be in with a chance of playing a once-in-a-lifetime frame against one of snooker’s rising stars, by attending a unique fundraising event to be held at Maplin’s Telford store
Anyone hoping to go head-to-head with world top 10 player, Mark Selby, can bid to win the chance to play him in a one-off frame at Maplin’s Telford Bridge Retail Park store on Wednesday, November 28th, by simply making a small charity donation to the Paul Hunter Foundation.
Those who make a bid on the day will be in with the chance of playing World Snooker finalist, Mark, a player who’s making great strides within the world of snooker and whose happy-go-lucky attitude and reputation for telling jokes has earned him the nickname of the ‘Leicester Jester’. Mark will take on Shropshire’s army of budding snooker challengers between 1pm - 4.30pm.
All donations from the event will go directly to the Paul Hunter Foundation, which was set up in memory of the late Paul Hunter, to give disadvantaged, able bodied and disabled youngsters an opportunity to play snooker.
The fundraiser has been organised by specialist electronics retailer, Maplin, as part of the launch of its sponsorship of snooker’s prestigious UK Championship which begins on December 8th at the International Centre in Telford.
David O’Reilly, marketing director at Maplin, said: “As soon as we knew that Mark Selby would be officially helping us launch our UK Championship sponsorship in Telford, we thought we could provide a small contribution to the Paul Hunter Foundation.
“For snooker enthusiasts, this fundraising event is a unique opportunity to play a frame against a top 10 star and help pledge their support to a charity which makes such an invaluable contribution to disadvantaged youngsters who love the game of snooker.”.
