SNOOKER LEGEND, STEVE DAVIS
A HUGE SUCCESS FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE OF BURNLEY
21/03/2010
Snooker legend, Steve Davis, was in Padiham last Sunday entertaining young people from Burnley, Padiham and Rossendale. The event was part of the county-wide initiative to engage young people in positive activities on Friday evenings.
Held at Padiham Youth Centre, young people took part in snooker and pool games, together with off the table quizzes to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Steve Davis says, “Once again a super event putting the game I’ve grown up with back to its grass routes within the community. Young people these days sometimes get a raw deal. The Young Peoples Service should be commended in what they are dong to help young people and I’m pleased to be a part of it. Congratulations to Lilli Rushton, Nasreen Hussan and all the Young Peoples workers for supporting the YPS”.
The winner of the snooker event was Sam Uttley and the pool event winner was John Casy. The 60 second challenge champion was Sam Uttley.
