FOUNDATION DONATES TABLES

01/12/08

The Paul Hunter Foundation has donated two 6 ft snooker tables to worthy causes, in supporting its Mission Statement to disadvantaged, able bodied and disabled youngsters an opportunity to play snooker.

During the recent East Lancashire Paul Hunter Foundation Functional Skills Festival, in which 20 Schools from the Hyndburn, Ribble Valley and Rossendale areas took part, North Lancs Training Group’s Paul Hunter Foundation representative Chris Lovell made the table donations on behalf of the Foundation.

Chris was joined by Steve Davis in presenting a table to the Accrington Academy which is dedicated to offer Sporting Academies via the Sports Diploma route to its 1,000+ pupils. From September 2009 they will offer a Snooker Academy where pupils from 14 upwards will be able to access snooker as part of their day to day School life, a far cry from 20 years ago when the only time you could play snooker was when you were on holiday or when you should have been at School!!

White Ash Special School located in Oswaldtwistle is the recipient of a 2nd table. Chris Lovell says, “Whilst the School’s youngsters were taking part in the Festival it was easily apparent the enjoyment they gained from snooker. I approached their representative and enquired what facility the School had to develop snooker, her reply was none – the decision was then an easy one!!”
