the paul hunter foundation comes home to yorkshire
05/04/09

The Paul Hunter Foundation came home to Yorkshire on Sunday 5th April 2008 when the Paul Hunter Foundation roadshow was held at Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds.
Over 30 people took part in the event which saw players taking part in individual and team games, which were rewarded with prizes such as trophies, PHF mugs, bags and water bottles. The winner of the snooker event, Gene Lamb, also won a Paul Hunter Foundation cue signed by six times World Snooker Champion, Steve Davis.
This event was based on the concept which was developed in Lancashire by World Snooker Coach, Chris Lovell and followed on from the successful Paul Hunter Foundation projects launched in Yorkshire and South Wales by Cuefactor in 2008.
Since launching in Lancashire last September, over 3600 youngsters have taken part in the roadshows and the snooker academy. In areas where the Foundation has been tasked to work in partnership with local groups such as Neighbourhood Management, Young Peoples Service and the Youth Offending Teams, the police have reported a 63% reduction in first time anti social behaviour when the roadshows are taking place.
On behalf of the Foundation, Chris Lovell said, “It was an honour to bring the concept home to Yorkshire and to have achieved the level of success we have since 1st September last year has been unbelievable. I would like to thank all the partnerships involved, such as the Young Peoples Service, Connexions, YNOT and in particular North Lancs Training Group Ltd and it could not have happened without the team that organise all the events and the enormous support from the trustees. Thanks to all.”
The next roadshow to be held at Northern Snooker Centre, will be on Saturday 9th May 2009. For further information contact Colin Hogan on 0113 243 3015.
