02/11/08
North Lancs Training Group and the Paul Hunter Foundation are pleased to confirm that on Sunday 2nd November 2008 10.00 a.m. – 12.00 p.m. at Padiham Snooker Centre, Grove Lane, Padiham, top snooker referee, Alan Chamberlain, will be donating his services to the Paul Hunter Foundation.
North Lancs Training Group’s World Snooker Coach, Chris Lovell, said on behalf of the Foundation,
“It’s a real coup to have Alan coming along to one of our Academy sessions. He was the First senior professional referee on the circuit and has refereed at the highest level for over 20 years. It is vital that youngsters understand the rules of the game fully and also the sportsmanship that exists within our beautiful game.”
The Paul Hunter Foundation began in September and each week 25/30 youngsters attend and receive expert tuition by World Snooker Grad A coaches, Paul Rinaldi and Chris Lovell. The Foundation was set up in memory of 3 times Masters Champion, Paul Hunter, who sadly lost his battle with cancer at the young age of 27.
‘TO TRY TO GET KIDS OFF THE STREETS’
The aim of the Foundation is to give disadvantaged, able-bodied and disabled youngsters an opportunity to play snooker.
In September this year, North Lancs Training Group’s Chris Lovell was tasked with leading the project in Lancashire; each week over 100 youngsters participate in the programme.
